Two different centres of gravity

The honest version first: these are not copies of each other. Stamhoofd grew out of the Belgian youth movements and expanded from there towards sports clubs, choirs and schools. Its centre of gravity is the front end: registration forms, ticket sales with door scanning, seating plans, webshops and fundraising. The platform is open source and the code is on GitHub. Ledenboek was built in the Netherlands around the board work itself: member administration and bookkeeping in the same system, so an incoming payment attaches to a member straight away.

The overlap is member administration. That is why we end up side by side, and why this page exists.

The pricing model

What you pay per year for member administration

In short: up to roughly 300 members Stamhoofd is cheaper for member administration, above that we are. That is because they charge per member and we charge per band. Just above a band boundary the gap is widest: an association of 55 members pays €179 with us and €55 with them.
With both, your payment provider's transaction fees come on top, and those are comparable. With Ledenboek you can avoid them by submitting the SEPA direct debit file to your own bank.
Based on Stamhoofd's public price list, checked on 4 August 2026. Their rates exclude VAT, which an association usually cannot reclaim; add 21% in that case. Above €500 in service fees you can ask them about a discount. Always check current prices with Stamhoofd themselves.

What Stamhoofd does not include

This is the heart of the difference, so we spell it out. Stamhoofd's site names one financial feature: "Export all payments (with transaction cost and payout date) to Excel for bookkeeping." That is an export. The processing you do yourself, in another program. What else is not listed:

• ✕ Bookkeeping. No general ledger, no journals, no profit and loss account. You post the export by hand into a bookkeeping package you take on separately.
• ✕ Bank reconciliation. No MT940 or CAMT. You cannot import statements, so incoming amounts get matched to the right member by hand.
• ✕ Invoicing. No per-member invoices and no payment reminders that go out on their own. Whoever has not paid, you track yourself.
• ✕ Direct debit through your own bank. Payments run through Stripe or Mollie, with a transaction fee each time. A SEPA direct debit file you submit to your own bank, which avoids those fees, is not listed.
• ✕ Expense claims. Receipts from volunteers and board members, and approving them, you arrange outside the system.
• ✕ Audit committee and discharge. Reviewing the books and signing off on them happen by email or on paper.
• ✕ Budget, annual figures and forecast. The documents for the general meeting you make yourself, usually in a spreadsheet.
• ✕ Meetings, documents and voting. Agendas, minutes and decision-making are not part of it.

This is what Stamhoofd's site describes on 4 August 2026, checked on their features, member administration and pricing pages. If you see something that is there by now, email us and we will update this page. That has happened before, after a fair correction from ClubCollect.

What that costs you extra

An association that also wants to do its bookkeeping adds a bookkeeping package alongside. Below we use the cheapest one we could find for associations. Choose Moneybird, Jortt or a package through your accountant and the amount goes up.

Calculated with €115 per year for a bookkeeping package: the Boekhouden package for associations from e-Boekhouden.nl, regular price €9.50 per month, checked on 4 August 2026. That is the bottom of the market. Moneybird Start is €15 per month excluding VAT, or €218 per year including. Use that instead and the gap widens.
What this table does not show is the time. Two systems side by side means an incoming payment does not attach itself to a member: you retype it, or you look it up. That is exactly the work treasurers give up on.
